We returned to winning ways and regained 6th. place in the league as a result of this victory in a close game, the visitors having the better of the first half, whilst we came back well after the interval to complete the double over our Essex visitors.
With George Legg recalled by Reading , new signing Lewis Ward made a competent replacement in goal, whilst Stefan Brown made a welcome return from injury.
We were set to play up the slope on a blustery day which made ball control difficult, with neither side able to build up any decent attacks, a Luke Williams shot which flew just wide and a miscued shot from Brown being our only real efforts.
Concord have improved since we won there early in the season at a time when they were at the bottom of the league and have climbed away from the relegation zone with some good recent results and they continued to produce some chances before taking the lead on the half hour. Dion Sembie-Ferris cutting inside to beat Ward with a good cross-shot.
We did not look very convincing and Ward had to pull off a good save to keep out a free-kick from Taylor Miles as half-time approached, but we began to look much more dangerous down the slope after the interval and Jon Boardman got on the end of a free-kick from James Clark to head neatly past Bailey Vose in the Concord goal after 51 minutes to make it 1-1.
We continued to press forward and got the winning goal after 83 minutes when Brown reacted first to a dipping cross and headed past Vose for the winner, a good second half display after a rather lack-lustre first half , an effort which kept our play-off hopes alive.
