Hungerford Town endured another bruising afternoon as a 4–1 defeat at Berkhamsted pushed them deeper into relegation trouble and made the prospect of a late escape feel increasingly remote.
The scoreline was harsh on the visitors, who controlled much of the first half and created the clearer chances. Thomas Conteh forced Charlie Horlock into a comfortable save after 15 minutes, before a well‑worked move saw George Franklin’s delivery flicked on by Jerry Gyebi, with Ramarni Medford‑Smith heading narrowly over as Horlock was left stranded.
Hungerford looked set to be rewarded for their pressure just before the break when Ty Duffus was brought down by Horlock, earning a penalty. Louis McGrory struck firmly down the middle, but Horlock produced a superb save, and Franklin fired the rebound over. It proved a turning point.
The second half belonged entirely to the hosts. Ten minutes after the restart, Jose Sani bundled in a scrappy opener, and five minutes later JJ Lacey unleashed a stunning strike into the top corner to make it 2–0. With 15 minutes remaining, Kyle Brooks added another spectacular finish, leaving Luke Cairney helpless.
Hungerford briefly rallied when Conteh crossed for Kyle Tooze to glance a header into the far corner, but with makeshift striker Jordan Rose leading the line, their attacking options were stretched.
Ryan Blake’s injury‑time finish sealed a 4–1 win and, perhaps, sealed Hungerford’s fate at Step 3
