A late goal from Elis Watts, his 20th of the season secured the points in this Berkshire Derby on Good Friday keeping Hungerford well in the playoff race
It was a game played in tricky conditions not only with the slippery surface but also with the gusty winds. The conditions played a huge part in Hungerford’s opening goal in the ninth minute when Louie Paget hit a ball towards the Bracknell goal in his own half that the wind caught and Bracknell’s keeper Eacott found himself stranded as the ball sailed into the net
Soon after Bracknell had a chance of their own when Grant fired the ball toward Clarke who saved easily. It was the home side on top for the half though and it was Eacott with a brilliant double save to prevent Watts from doubling the lead in the 35th minute
Just before halftime Eacott again produced a double save but this time Joe Shepherd was on hand to force it home for Hungerford’s second.
Bracknell came out much stronger in the second half and soon got back into the game when Burden cut inside and shot past Clarke. Bracknell were now having the majority of possession but Hungerford were holding firm in defence thanks to the excellent Luke Softley in particular
Finally Hungerford who always looked dangerous on the break converted a chance when Elis Watts converted after a break away from Elliott Dugan to secure the points and move back into the playoff places.
