Hungerford entertained league two outfit Swindon Town on Tuesday evening in front of 705 supporters and it was the hosts who come out on top thanks to a second half Nana Kyei winner. It was a deserved victory for Hungerford who were the better side across the ninety minutes and physicality played a part in that against a youthful Swindon side.
Hungerford carved out the first chance of the match just five minutes in, Rhys Tyler dug out a cross on the right that Jake Evans met well but JoJo Wollacott sprung to his right to make the save. The goalkeeper made another good save to deny Warren Bentley's strike, the chance created though because of Keith Emmerson's surging run through Swindon's midfield. On the half hour mark the visitors took the lead. A trialist broke in-behind, rounded the goalkeeper and passed the ball into the net. Hungerford responded and were back on level terms nine minutes later. Jake Evans worked a neat free kick routine that was finished off by Ryan Seager's volleyed shot. The Crusaders then found themselves ahead before the break with a slice of luck. Wollacott made an error clearing a backpass and the ball bobbled over his foot and into the net.
Swindon fielded a new team for the second period but quickly got themselves back level. It came from a Hungerford corner, the Robins breaking with pace and Boulden profiting to score. Hungerford would react with an Evans corner picking out a trialist who headed wide. The winner came on 70 minutes, a cross to the back post touched home by the anticipating Nana Kyei. A threat to the Swindon backline all game the winger deserved a goal for his performance. The visitors fashioned one last chance that they couldn't take advantage of. All in all this was another good workout and a deserved victory on the night for Hungerford, who now travel to Wimborne for their next test on Saturday.
