Warren, you started your career at Southampton, how old was you when you signed for them?
I was in the Southampton academy as a youngster, I signed when I was about 10 and spent 5 seasons with them.
You played alongside Gareth Bale for a number of those years, was it obvious back then, that he would go on to great things?
The year group above me had some special talent which was obvious just from watching them train. A number stood out ahead of Bale at that time, such as Walcott and Lallana, in some regards he was a late developer.
Southampton have always been known for their development of young players, are you disappointed not to have made it professional with them?
Of course I was disappointed not to make it further with Saints, but I had some fantastic experiences with them.
What happened after you left, where did you end up?
I ended up playing locally after and eventually signed for Winchester City's youth team.
You scored over 50 goals at Alresford Town in one season under current Thatcham Town boss Danny Robinson, you were soon snapped up by Winchester City on a contract and went on to score over 100 goals in two seasons continuing your prolific record. You had attracted a number of scouts from various clubs, do you know what clubs these were?
I had scored a number of goals in the Wessex but it wasn't until I moved up to the southern league south and west that I started to gain interest from higher up. I believe Notts County and Luton showed some interest.
Do you know why nothing materialised?
I assume it was my age. Clubs are more inclined to offer contracts to youngsters who have more time to develop.
During your time at Winchester, you made BBC sport headlines when you were unofficially crowned the most prolific goal scorer across the top 8 tiers of English Football, scoring more than the likes of Kane and Vardy. Did you think that some interest from a higher club would materialise?
The BBC article is something that I'll look back on in a few years and be proud of. No to be honest, I'm at an age where I've accepted that my chances of making the pro game were extremely thin so I wasn't giving it much thought.
You then moved to Gosport Borough at the start of this season continuing your scoring record but due to financial issues at the club you were on the lookout for another club, when did you first hear about Hungerford’s interest?
Danny Robinson had made it clear that Bobby liked me as a player so I followed the interest up and he was straight onto the phone to me.
Why did you choose Hungerford over other clubs?
A combination of reasons, club status, set up, location, it all fit the bill. Bobby convinced me quite quickly.
You scored coming off the bench on your debut against Whitehawk, did that help relieve any pressure on you?
I didn't feel too much pressure to score, I'm more interested in helping the team in anyway I can but it was nice to get off the mark so quickly.
What did you know about Hungerford before signing for us?
I knew they were a difficult and organised team to play against and the club, like me, had made its way up the leagues in recent years.
What is your ambition as a footballer, what do you want to go on to achieve?
I just want to play as high as possible and enjoy my football.
You have been with us for just over a week now and from what you have seen at Hungerford is there anything you would improve?
I would improve my singing voice. The team had to suffer through my initiation song!
Finally, welcome on board to Hungerford Town, all our committee and fans are excited to see you in action.
Thank you!
