In the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division on Saturday, Adam Lovegrove hit the only goal of the game after 22 minutes for Abingdon Town against Binfield.

The in-form Abbots have now won five of their last seven outings.

Leaders, Ardley United were too hot for Wantage Town to handle, hitting four without reply, courtesy of Troy Bryan, Andy Stidder and Ryan Brooks with a pair.

Ascot United went down to two late goals from Joe Tustain and James Coates for promotion-hopefuls Shortwood United.

The faltering Flackwell Heath got back into their stride with a 2-1 win over Reading Town.

The Heathens took the lead in the 56th minute through Danny Jordan, doubled the score on 70 minutes, courtesy of Riccardo Cannon and conceded a consolation effort from Graham Lewis for the visitors just before the final whistle.

Kidlington’s current up-and-down form continued with a 5-1 mauling at the hands of Cheltenham Saracens.

The Saras were already five up through Jamie Hammond and Lorcan Sheehan with pairs-a-piece, and Mike Rhodes before Jack Quainton managed to reply for Kiddy.

Slimbridge and Holyport shared the points after playing out a goalless draw.

A 38th minute strike from Connor Hayes for Thame United was enough to take the points from basement outfit Bracknell Town.

In Division One West, Cirencester Town 'Dev' shared four goals and the points with table-toppers Tytherington Rocks, who have now gone a dozen games without defeat.

On target for Ciren were Conor Teague and Danny Hale, and for the Rocks, Justin Bishop and Stuart Nelson, who rescued an important point from the spot with 2 minutes remaining.

Clanfield were outdone by Malmesbury Victoria after Allan Webb and Neil Fisher netted in the first period.

Hook Norton were well beaten by lowly Carterton, who had a two goal cushion by half-time, thanks to strikes from Jamie MacDonagh and Ben Fitzmartin.

Jamie Wyatt got Hooky back into the game after scoring twice in the second period, but Lee Watkins and then Chris Mills with a late brace, made certain of the very welcome points for the Kilkenny Lane outfit.

Title-chasers Old Woodstock Town kept the pressure on Tytherington Rocks with a comfortable 4-1 victory over New College Swindon.

Dan Green put the Town ahead after 12 minutes, Todd Hathaway then equalised after a quarter of an hour, but further goals from Mike Spaull, Marley Jordan and Murray Nicholls made certain of the result for the Oxfordshire side.

Purton stole a march on local rivals Wootton Bassett Town after winning by the odd goal in three.

Marcus Hall netted twice in the first half for the Red House side and although James Turner got one back with 10 minutes to play, it was not enough to start a comeback.

In Division One East, Abingdon United Reserves lost out to Woodley Town when Jordan Sawyer hit the only goal of the game after 36 minutes.

Finchampstead were down to a 38th minute strike from Stuart Braun for Chinnor but the Finches clawed their way back into the game, winning by 3-1, courtesy of goals from Richard Kell, Gavin Rolls and Rich Evans.

Highmoor Ibis were beaten for the first time in eleven outings after Tom Mahoney hit the target for Hungerford Town Reserves after 27 minutes.

Letcombe took an early lead through a Pete Horswell strike after 3 minutes against Penn & Tylers Green, Chris Hurst equalised soon after, but Jack Hemmings settled the contest after hitting the winner in the 70th minute for the hosts.

Milton United were overrun by Rayners Lane after conceding five times through Ryan Upton, Lee Gardner and Lawrence Yaku with a hat-trick. Warren McCabe managed a consolation effort for the Oxfordshire strugglers who are off the bottom on goal difference only.

League leaders, Newbury were too good for table-proppers Didcot Town Reserves, winning comfortably courtesy of strikes from Barry Elmore, Danny Lachacz and Kalief Madden.

Lee Newport managed a consolation for the Railwaymen who now have now only taken two points from their last eleven outings.

This was Mike Markham`s last report for the Hellenic League after three years in the saddle – thanks Mike.
