Premier Division
Bottom of the table Fairford Town entertained Carterton who started the afternoon three places and ten points above them. Although the home team scored early through Franklin in the 5th minute, goals from Bostock, Secoll and Williams in the 2nd half saw the points go to Carterton. Shortwood in 6th place visited mid-table Reading Town, and were 4-0 ahead with ten minutes to go. Goals from Allard in the 1st half, and Kent, Mortlock and Colwell in the second should have seen off the home team. Reading came back into the game with goals from Richardson and Hatton. Witney Town welcomed Wootton Bassett Town to a game where both sides needed the points to move away from the relegation zone. Brown scored for the visitors in the 6th minute, Witney levelled with a penalty from Tustain in the 52nd. He scored again with three minutes to go. The largest crowd of the day witnessed Witney’s continued revival under the new management team. Their run of results has gained ten points from the last twelve.
The title race continues to build. Just eleven points separate the top seven clubs. Ardley United are setting the pace. However the others all have games in hand. The top spot is anyone’s at the moment. At the other end hope is fading for Fairford Town and Pegasus Juniors. But neither is that far behind and a good run could see them escape. In the coming week there are five games on Tuesday evening, with three of the top six involved, plus one on Wednesday. The League now has the job of re-scheduling the postponed matches to ensure that the season is completed by the end of April.

Witney United 2 – 1 Wootton Bassett Town
Two teams just above the bottom four met at Witney, who started slowly with ‘Bassett’ dominating early play. Witney were hit on the break in the 6th minute. Ethan Delaney ran from the half way line trailing defenders in his wake, he passed to Matty Brown whose shot across the keeper found the net. Despite hard work by Tustain and McKeon, Witney’s strikers, it was Bassett who looked the more likely to score, Bassett’s defence out numbered the strikers, preventing any real chances.
The 2nd half saw Witney more determined and moved the ball around more. After five minutes Jack Lonsdale burst into the Bassett area and was fouled by keeper Stewart Thompson. Joe Tustain scored from the spot. Ten minutes later Tustain sent a telling pass through for McKeon, but his attempt was foiled by keeper Thompson who managed to dive to prevent the shot. Witney increased the pressure as Bassett faded and tiredness from the heavy ground set in. Tustain and McKeon both had chances, after ten minutes struggling with his injured leg keeper Thompson left the field with striker Sam Collier taking over. Two minutes from the end of normal time he conceded as McNally worked in from the left and crossed to Joe Tustian who headed in the winner. Right on time Bassett should have equalized, but sub Alex Green headed a clear chance over.

Division One (West)
Three games survived the conditions. Mid-table Letcombe fought out a goal-less draw against struggling Launton Sports in difficult conditions. Easington Sports took all three points from their visit to Tytherington Rocks. A single goal from Convey in the 29th minute was enough to separate them.
Twelve points separate the top six in this Division, with Headington Amateurs leading the way. The top five have all played eighteen games.

Division One (East)
Following the heavy rain just two games escaped postponement. Chalfont Wasps entertained Rayners Lane. Both clubs have games in hand over those above them in the table. So it was a good opportunity to ‘catch-up’. On a difficult surface the home team took the points with a goal by Kiall in the 67th minute.
Newbury with aspirations of converting their top four in a promotion position visited lowly Chinnor, who had other ideas. An exciting 4-4 draw followed. Newbury went ahead with Jones scoring in the 10th minute. Chinnor also had a Jones playing and he equalised in the 28th minute. From there the visitors went ahead through Thorpe and another from Jones in the 2nd half. Johnson scored twice for Chinnor and the home team finally got ahead through Davis (76) only for this to be cancelled out by Thorpe (86).
