"Our club Captain tells us more about himself"

You started your career on a YTS at @officialpompey how long were you with them for?

Hey, yeah that's right I started with them at the age of 9 until I was 19. I was there for 10 years but I signed my first pro contract at Oxford United

Did you make an immediate move to @OxfordUtdFC or did you have trials?

I was on trial for 2 weeks, but I had worked with Jim smith at Pompey before

How long was it until you made your first team debut?

I went straight into the first team in my first year

And did you feature regularly for them?

Yeah I think I made over 100 appearances in my time it Oxford which was a great 3 years

Great effort! Can you recall your most important game with them?

Every game was important. We had a game live on sky in my first year which was a big game for us.

What was your biggest achievement with them?

We set a new league attendance record on Boxing Day v Woking there was over 11,000 fans there

Did you win that day?

lol no it was a boring 0-0 draw

Did you win anything major with @OxfordUtdFC ?

no, in my first year we got to the play offs and got beat by Exeter

One of your talking points at @OxfordUtdFC must have been playing @ManUtd first team including @Cristiano ?

One of the greatest nights of my life being an mufc fan. I was buzzing when I found out

Who else featured in that game for them?

Ben Foster, John O'Shea, Darren Fletcher, Louis Saha I could keep going!

Who would be the best player you have played with over the years?

That's tough. Boards would want me to say him!! I would say Teddy Sheringham at Pompey in a reserve game once.

And apart from the @ManUtd team who is the best you have played against?

Arsenal in a reserve game. Had Fabregas & Bentley great team

What was it like finding out your contract was not being renewed at @OxfordUtdFC ?

It was tough, but I had to get on a deal with it. I had a massive decision to make

Can you elaborate?

Well either to continue as a pro or go semi-pro and find a job. It was tough I choose the latter one and never looked back

You ended up at @OxCityFC what league was that in and how long were you there for?

Yeah I went there after OUFC, I was there around 3 months. Think they were in this league we are in now

And then you came to @HungerfordTown for your first spell. Why did you leave first time round?

Well Eastleigh came in for me there were 2 leagues high so I ended up signing with them.

You lasted the remainder of the season with @EastleighFC, was you out of favour there?

They had an injury crisis and they said they could get two players in for me so I left on a mutual

And fortunately for us returned to @HungerfordTown You have been a rock in our defence. Who has been your strongest partnership?

I'm going to have to say it, It will give him a bigger head though, has got to be Boardo had a solid 7 years together

You have achieved great things with Hungerford, what would you say is the most memorable to date?

Has got to be the two play off final days. Was a massive achievement for the club, players and staff

What do you enjoy about Hungerford Town most?

The support we get every week!

You have also featured for the England Non League team, who has more international caps?

Well I have 2 not sure how many he has? (Jon has seven!!)

Who is the best player for Hungerford Town in your opinion?

That's tough the lads have been a different class this year. Willow has been a decent this year though!

We are almost safe from relegation, but realistically are you aiming for the play offs now?

The first Job was to stay in this league I hopefully that is achieved. We just need to take each game at a time and see

Thanks for your time tonight Matt. Good luck for the rest of the season!
