Match Preview - Bracknell Town Away - Saturday 4th October - FA Trophy

Martyn Leach2 Oct - 11:15

We are off to Bracknell Town on Saturday in the FA Trophy. Here is everything you need to know and some things you didnt...

HISTORY
Affectionately known as "The Robins" they were Founded in 1896 as Old Bracknell Wanderers, the club joined the Ascot & District League in 1904. - Renamed Bracknell F.C. in 1949, and later adopted the current name Bracknell Town in 1962. In 2016, under chairman Kayne Steinborn-Busse, the club underwent major redevelopment and - Moved to a new stadium at Bottom Meadow, Sandhurst in 2021. - Achieved promotion to Step 3 for the first time in club history in the 2021–22. Bracknell Town continues to compete in the Southern League Premier Division South, building on a proud legacy of grassroots football and community spirit

LAST SEASON
This is a trophy game so last season we crashed out of this competition at home to Yate Town in the 1st round. Bracknell also had disappointing result going out 6-3 away at Lewes although at least got to visit one of the classic non league grounds.

FORM
Don't mention the FA Cup to either team a competition we've both exited this week in games both teams would have been hopeful to progress in. Bracknell have not had the start they would have wanted this season in the league but are looking to turn things around and will be like a wounded animal going into this game after the FA Cup defeat.

DANGER MAN
It has to be Alfie Pavey. The summer signing has already bagged three goals for the Robins and he also has a terrible habit of scoring goals against us! Pavey scored a winner against Basingstoke which I can imagine went down very well with the Bracknell fans!

NEWS FOR HUNGERFORD
As we know the skipper will be out for a few weeks after his injury against Hanwell. For those following on from last week Alex crashed out of his Pool tournament and there was some controversy about the pitch (table) something I can sympathise with.

DID YOU KNOW
For the fans of the dark ages the name Bracknell comes from the Anglo Saxon leader "Bracca", watch "The Vikings" on Netflix for more info!. TV presenter Jeff Brazier was born in Bracknell so he is not really an Essex man!. Remember however, we are actually visiting Sandhurst just 5 miles South of Bracknell and home to the Royal Military Academy, salute as you drive in! If you really want to know all about the Robins I recommend watching some of "Mattitude's Vlogs" on YouTube - Matt VLOG YouTube Channel - Matt gets a fair bit of stick from some quarters in the SLPS (especially unfairly on X!) but he is passionate about his team and loves non league football & plastic pitches.
