Luke Softley leaves Hungerford

Luke Softley leaves Hungerford

Martyn Leach14 Aug 2025 - 15:00

Central defender Luke Softey has departed Bulpit Lane after starting the first two games of this season.

Luke joined us in 2023 making his debut against Walton & Hersham. Since then he has played 37 times for Hungerford scoring 4 goals. That includes the memorable winner against Basingstoke Town in February this year.

Danny Robinson reacting to the news told us...
“I am absolutely gutted to see Softs go, but completely understand his reasons why. we can’t compete with him wanting to play closer to home and the lad wanting to progress out side of football with work. It makes more sense he is closer to home. Softs has just got better and better and will certainly be a top player at this level and above for sure. He is a cracking lad and will be sorely missed in our changing room as will his family be at the club. He came in as a boy and I like to think he is leaving a man! All the best kiddo”

And Softs had this message for the fans...
" Just want to say thank you again for everything Danny and Hungerford have done for me over the last couple of years. You have made me love my football again and turned me from a boy to a man! I will definitely keep in touch and I’ll be back down at the Bulpit to have a catch up soon. Lots of love to you all Softs"

We would all like to wish Luke the best of luck in his future career and hope to see him and his family back at Bulpit Lane soon!
