Many Hungerford supporters will already be familiar with Jason through his excellent work as joint manager of our successful U23 and Reserve teams.
Jason brings a wealth of experience from both the professional and non‑league game. As a player, he developed under renowned managers including Lou Macari, Osvaldo Ardiles and Glenn Hoddle at Swindon Town, before spending time under Martin O’Neill at Wycombe Wanderers. He also represented Stockport County before a serious knee injury curtailed his professional career. He later featured locally for Basingstoke Town, Andover and Thatcham Town, before being forced to retire at the age of 26 due to persistent ACL injuries.
Following retirement, Jason moved into coaching and management. After several successful years as youth team manager at Thatcham Town, he progressed to first‑team manager, guiding the club to Step 4 for the first time in its history and securing multiple cup victories. During his tenure, he created a clear development pathway, promoting more than 20 youth players into senior football. He later managed Andover for two seasons before returning to Thatcham, where he transformed the team from the bottom two of Southern League Division One after ten games to a play‑off position by the final day of the season.
Jason then dedicated the next decade to youth development, serving as director of an academy and helping nurture many of the players who now form the core of Hungerford Town’s U23 squad. His work included leading Kintbury Rangers U18s to back‑to‑back league titles and a league cup triumph. Upon joining Hungerford Town, he played a key role in forming the U23 team, guiding them to a league and cup double in their inaugural season and establishing a clear pathway for players to progress into Step 4 football with our first team.
Jason’s extensive knowledge of local football, his proven track record in player development, and his strong leadership qualities make him an ideal fit for this new role. As Director of Football, he will act as the key link between the board and the management team, while also serving as the first point of contact for players. This structure will allow Danny Robinson to focus fully on first‑team football operations.
Of the appointment Danny said "I am absolutely over the moon that Jase has taken on the role of Director of Football. I’ve know him pretty much all my football all life and he is someone who I have looked up to and admired since I have started my management journey. Jase is one of the very best men in non-league you will find and to get to work with him even closer is amazing. He is a close mate first and foremost but he will add so much to the club with this new role. Certainly a fantastic appointment for our football club"
Chairman Cris Bowden expressed his delight at welcoming Jason into the role stating “This is a fantastic move for the club, and I am extremely excited for the new journey we are embarking on.”
Hungerford Town FC looks forward to the positive impact Jason will bring as we continue to build for the future.
