Hungerford secured a second win of the season with a spectacular comeback against Dulwich Hamlet at Champion Hill in front of a 2,071 crowd. Ian Herring made three changes to the side that faced St Albans last weekend with Matt Berry-Hargreaves coming in for Josiah Dunstan at centre back, Louis McGrory came into midfield for George Smith and Liam Ferdinand replaced Zidan Akers.
The Crusaders started fast forcing excellent early saves from Ashley Maynard-Brewer courtesy of Mike Jones and James Constable. However, it was the hosts who scored the first goal of proceedings through a Danny Mills header from a corner. Mills then was the architect of a good chance for winger Lewis White but Adam Siviter was only forced into a simple save. Liam Ferdinand came close with a deflected effort at the other end but from the resulting corner Dulwich would counter attack on the Crusaders. David Ijaha coolly passed home an accurate finish to give the hosts breathing space. Mills had two half chances just before the break but couldn't take either which would ultimately prove costly.
Akers replaced Conor Lynch at half time for Hungerford whilst Dulwich reverted to a three at the back as centre back Richard Orlu had to be substituted. Almost immediately after the restart Ferdinand pounced unmarked at the back post to halve the deficit. Just two minutes later the visitors were level. Ferdinand collected a throw in on the right hand side and he found Joe Tomlinson with a delightful cross field pass. Tomlinson was in acres of space, cut inside and finished superbly with a curling effort. The left back was a constant outlet down the Crusaders left flank. A Matt Jones deflected shot and Akers fierce strike both troubled Maynard-Brewer's goal but didn't force a save out of the keeper. Maynard-Brewer was then forced into an excellent low save from Tomlinson who was picked out by a gorgeous Berry-Hargreaves diagonal pass. Matt Jones then completed the comeback with a stunning 25 yard low strike which skipped off the watered surface and past the goalkeeper. The Crusaders were then relatively untroubled and controlled the game in a professional manner. Mills had the best chance to salvage a late equaliser but Siviter was alert to make the save before Jeffery Monakana hit the bar in added time.
