Oxford scored with one of the first chances of the game. A free kick went into the path of Kyran Wiltshire who turned Rusby and slotted home into the corner of the net. Otudeko missed a sitter after good work from Tshimanga. Then the complexion of the game changed when the referee sent off Hungerford Captain Marvel Ekpiteta and City goal scorer Kyran Wiltshire following some heated exchanges between them and fellow players. The Crusaders battled back into it enjoying more possession but not testing Craig King in the City goal. The closest the hosts came to scoring was Tom Anderson's long range effort that sailed over.
After the interval Hungerford upped the tempo and became the dominant force. They shortly got their just rewards when winger Darren Foxley curled a free kick into the top corner of the net from an acute angle. Foxley could’ve had his second minutes later but fired over from close range. However despite pinning the Oxford defence back the visitors did look deadly on the break. Sam Nombe had a good chance before he squared across to substitute Craig Fasanmade who looked certain to score but Jacob Weaver denied him. Anderson layed the ball off to Danilo Orsi-Dadomo but his effort was too close to King. Anderson then set up substitute Alfy Whittingham but he miscued his shot over. Both teams will meet again next Tuesday.
