Two goals either side of half time were enough for Slough to prevail in this national league south clash against Hungerford.

However the result could have been much closer if the visitors had taken their chances. Darren Foxley was lively throughout but should have scored twice in the opening quarter of the game. Firstly, a swift counter attack involving James Rusby, Alex Fragata and Foxley lead to the latter running through on goal only for Jack Turner to deny him. Then, Turner should have been in action again but the winger shot over after Richie Whittingham played a nicely weighted pass to him on the edge of the box. Slough did have the majority of the possession and nearly scored a fortuitous goal when the impressive midfielder Dan Bailey nearly put the ball into his own net after a whipped in free kick from James Dobson. At the other end Matt Jones’s delivery was met by Ramone Rose but, the winger converted into a striker for today’s match because of an injury to Conor Lynch, miscued his header as another chance went begging for the struggling Crusaders. However just ten minutes before half time the visitors were made to pay when Matt Stevens got on the end of a free kick to fire the hosts into the lead. It could have been worse on the stroke of half time as the rebels had the ball in the net once more only for offside to deny them. The hosts were not denied for long after the interval as they got a quick second courtesy of Dobson. Foxley then missed the chance to reduce the deficit soon after as his free kick hit the bar. Whittingham had a strike go just wide after good work from right back Marcus Johnson Schuster but it wasn’t to be for the Crusaders as Slough were the team to take the three points.
