It was good to get back to winning ways after two successive defeats, although there was a worrying loss of concentration near the end which allowed the home side to score late goals in a game which we had dominated for much of the 90 minutes.
A couple of free kicks from James Clark had the home defence struggling ad Ben McNamara saved low down from an Ian Herring shot as we had the better of the early play and the home keeper scrambled away a free-kick after Louie Soares had been fouled. The pressure eventually told when Soares fired home with a splendid shot into the top corner after 31 minutes and Rhys Tyler made it 2-0 in the 45th minute as we continued to do most of the attacking.
Another good goal, this time from a fierce shot from Clark, made it 3-0 after 61 minutes as we continued to control the play, and Stefan Brown, who had just come on, netted a penalty after Nat Jarvis had been brought down after 83 minutes to make it 4-0. However, with the game won, a looping shot by Tony Stokes only a minute later and a soft goal by Steve Cawley after 3 minutes of added time gave the scoreline a false look , although the 3 points took us up to 8th. place in the league.
With Welling United, next weeks scheduled opponents, being involved in the F.A.Cup,, Bath City declining the offer to bring forward their visit and other options failing,it appears that we have a blank Saturday ahead, an opportunity, if all else fails. to support the Swifts in their cup fixture at Bulpit Lane.
