A splendid Garyn Preen goal after only a quarter of an hour gave us a dream start, but although we always had the better of the play thereafter, it was not until our second goal that we could relax and enjoy the deserved victory which got us back to winning ways. Matt Day’s shot was blocked after a pass from Preen, but he fired wide from the rebound, although Jake Robinson shot wide when a quick counter~attack caught us short of defenders. Jonathan Henly saved well when Preen’s shot was deflected off a defender, but the little winger cut inside and drove an unstoppable shot past Henly after 16 minutes to give us a lead which we never looked like surrendering. Matt Day headed behind for a corner after Michael Richens had made a good run, but it was our forwards who always looked likely to break through again. Henly saved at full-length when Stefan Brown fired in a shot abut George Legg handled the ball confidently whenever the visitors got in a telling attack.
With the slope in our favour after the interval, we continued to put pressure on the Tudors defence and a shot from Luke Williams was saved at the foot of the post as he cut inside and, although we were never in real danger we needed a second goal to clinch the points. It eventually came after 83 minutes when substitute James Clark finished off another attack to make the game safe.
There was still more drama to come, for Legg got down well to pull off a splendid save from a penalty kick by Jordan Rose and in injury-time Nat Jarvis fired a terrific cross-shot into the roof of the net to make it 3-0 . After two recent defeats, the points were most welcome.
