Truro applied some early pressure and rewarded with an early penalty coming after an unfortunate slip by Josh Martin. Harvey converted low past Michael Luyambula despite the keeper getting a touch on the ball. Hungerford grew into the game and Cameron Hargreaves played in Rhys Kavanagh to convert a quick equaliser. The visitors then led once more after Harvey converted his second penalty. This time it is was a very controversial decision given by referee Spain when the initial handball appeared to be by a Truro player but this changed the momentum of the game. The hosts lack of concentration then cost them dear as just a minute later Harvey thumped home a header for his and Truro’s third from a corner. Tom Anderson and Matt Jones had efforts saved by Harvey Rivers before the break as Hungerford tried to get a foothold back in the game.
After the interval, the Crusaders’ day went from bad to worse when they lost captain Marvel Ekpiteta to a hamstring injury. A goal for Hungerford at this stage would have changed the complexion of the game but try as they might they couldn’t find a way through and Anderson’s low effort was saved by Rivers as half chances came and went. Harvey then finished off the game as a contest when he rounded the goalkeeper to finish into an empty net. Luyambula then saved a fierce Leigh-Gilchrist effort but the game petered out as Truro comfortably held out for a vital three points.
