Our lack of success at Bideford continues

Apart from a couple of goal-less draws (nothing like that Dunstable thriller) I cannot remember any success at Bideford and we seldom looked like improving on that situation in this disappointing display as the home side notched the only goal of the game.

A tremendous downpour as we neared Bideford did not augur well, but the clouds blew away and the game was played in excellent conditions, although the pitch was rather soft and we started quite well,and Dan Cann and Lee Smith earned an early corner, but Paul Strudley brought off a good save from Danny Wring. Josh Parsons broke through and appeared to be fouled on the edge of the area, but it was Bideford who were awarded the free-kick. Jon Boardman headed out as Kevin Squire threatened to break through, but from the long throw, the lofty Ben Gerring got in between Boardman and Matt Day to head past Strudley after 26 minutes to give the home side the lead as we found it difficult to build up any dangerous attacks, although a long ball from Parsons just eluded Smith as he broke clear.

A shot from Scott Rees was cleared off the line, but our real attempts were few and far between, even the introduction of all three subs up front made little difference although we did gain a couple of corners and Grant Fisher raced off his line to beat James Clark to a through ball,We were unable to put the home defence under real pressure and they held on fairly comfortably to earn all three points
