This was an exciting game between two evenly matched sides played in good spirit at a frantic pace throughout, and although there were no goals and few goal-scoring chances, it kept spectators on their toes throughout, a draw being a fair result of an enthralling match. Dunstable came with an impressive record, Division 1 Champions, second in the league, having scored more goals than any other side(25 in 10 games), but we again kept a clean sheet and maintained our record of not conceding a goal at home this season.
We gave the ball away right at the start, but Paul Strudley saved Charlie Henry’s shot and this was one of the few mistakes, and we were soon on he attack, only for Lee Smith to slip when he appeared to have a good chance. A though pass from Diak John was just too far ahead of Charlie Mpi and James Pilling sliced wide in another attack, but the visitors were quick on the counter-attack as the play flowed to and fro and Pilling’s free-kick was saved after Smith had been brought down at the end of a thrilling half.
We were playing up the slope in the second half as the game continued at a hectic pace and Christopher Marsh fired across the face of the goal and Josh Parsons( on for Mpi) brought a good save from Luke Chambers . We were now doing most of the attacking, Mark Draycott shot just over and Smith rattled the post in the nearest either side came to scoring, but it was still anyone’s game as both sides went for the win, but neither could get that vital goal and had to be content with a point, they could hardly have worked harder for such scant reward.
