Chelmsford City v Hungerford Town
When: 23rd November 2019
Where: Melbourne Stadium, CM1 2EH
K.O 3PM
The start of the FA trophy campaign, provides the most realistic chance for either of these sides to get to Wembley. That is quite a distant dream but nonetheless something that could potentially happen. This game probably comes at a good time as a relief from league action. Both need a reaction from last weekend, most notably Chelmsford who were thrashed 6-2 at home to Oxford. On the other hand Hungerford fight another relegation battle and Ian Herring will look at the FA trophy as a chance for a good cup run.
Form guide- Chelmsford are on a four game winless run losing to Oxford and Slough whilst drawing against Dorking and Dulwich. Hungerford have won two of their last four games, both of which came in Essex against Concord and Braintree, scoring five goals and conceding none in the process.
Team news- The hosts will be without midfielder Billy Knott who was sent off last Saturday but have signed Tom Knowles on loan from Cambridge. The club have confirmed many absentees for the game. Ollie Muldoon, Tom Wraight and Mickey Spillane are all out with Robbie Simpson a doubt. Meanwhile for the visitors, Yan Klukowski and Louis McGrory are the only confirmed absentees.
Star man- Sam Higgins has scored in his last four games for the Clarets, on that record he'll clearly be the main target man that the Crusaders have to watch out for. However, Higgins will be up against Taofiq Olomowewe who once again last Saturday shone as a powerful, commanding centre half.
Head to head- Last season, Chelmsford did the double over Hungerford winning 4-1 at home and 6-0 away. In 2017/18 both games ended one apiece. The story was similar a season earlier with a one-one draw in Berkshire before a thrilling three-three draw in Essex.
