We continued our pre-season programme with a visit ti Marlow, regular opponents back in our Isthmian League days, who now compete in the Southern League Division 1, understandably unhappy about their switch from the Central Division to the South and West Division, which will significantly increase their travelling during the coming season.
They have a neat and skilful side and perhaps had the better of the first half without breaking down our defence, although it needed a great save from a free-kick by Paul Strudley to deny the home side just before halftime.
The second half was also fairly evenly matched, but we looked more likely to score, eventually breaking the deadlock when James Clark scored after the home defence had failed to clear Alan O’Brien’s cross and we were never in real danger thereafter in another useful warm-up.
