We progressed to the semi-final of the Basingstoke Senior Cup with a 2-0 victory at Barlowes Park when the home side created few chances, although a couple of efforts when they intercepted misplaced passes saw Paul Strudley have to come to the rescue.
Apart from these mistakes, we generally had the better of the play, but it needed two second half goals to clinch the win. Dean Stow came off the bench and scored within a couple of minutes and Harry Goodger, another substitute, scored the second goal 5 minutes from the end when his close range effort was blocked by the keeper and he tapped in the rebound.
There were scares near the end when the flying Isaac Osei-Tutu was sent cartwheeling by a scything tackle and the Gary Horgan was also injured. Both looked serous, especially as we had used all three subs, but both recovered and were able to continue, albeit hampered by their injuries.
