A brace of goals from Josh Parsons were enough to see us through to the second round of the Senior Cup, as a much-changed side were on top for most of the game without turning their control into a convincing margin.
We gained an early corner and Harry Goodger shot well wide in another attack, but Adam Cornell shot just past the post for the visitors who looked quick and lively, young debutant goalkeeper Brendan Norris bringing off a good save as he touched the ball just past the post. However, we looked the more dangerous side and took the lead after 25 minutes, Josh Parsons beating Jake Somerville with a hard, low shot as he got on the end of Goodger’s cross. We became rather sloppy and gave the ball away all too easily and it was from one of these interceptions that Eddie Smith broke through and gave Norris no chance with a clinical finish after 39 minute
The tricky Parsons was too good for the Slough defenders and he burst through to regain the lead right on half-time with a well-taken goal and although we were playing up the slope in the second half we were seldom in danger but wasted plenty of possession, even substitute Mark Draycott was robbed of his 100th. goal for the club from a pass from Lewis Smith, but Somerville reacted well and grabbed the ball at Draycott’s feet near the end.
