Organisers have announced that Non-League Day returns for 2014 on Saturday, 6th September and the new website is live and contains a wealth of information for clubs and supporters, including the popular match finder tool.

The main focus of this year's campaign is to get as many clubs involved as possible by attracting a diverse range of football supporters. Whilst Non-League Day capitalises on Premier League and Championship supporters not having a game, we want to move away from this being the sole focus of the day.

Many clubs aren't situated near Premier League or Championship grounds, which means attracting these supporters can become difficult. Instead, we want to see Non-League Day as a platform to promote your club, regardless of where it is situated. There are hundreds of thousands of football fans across the country who rarely attend live games.

Often, these same fans live in towns and villages where there are established non-league sides they have never visited. It is these fans we want to encourage, alongside those who may be regulars at larger professional clubs.

By casting our net further, it may encourage more people to attend. So how do we do this? On our website, there are ideas on how to attract additional supporters on the day, but this is for guidance only. The key is to engage as many people as possible by offering something a bit different.

Pay-what-you-want schemes for ALL supporters have proved popular in the past, as did anything where there was an event for the community to get behind, such as fundraisers, five-a-side competitions, supporters' penalty shoot-out or community fun day.

There may also be scope to move kick-off times, particularly in areas where there is a high density of sides in different leagues playing on the same day. In short, the more clubs put in, the more they tend to get out.

We've listed some testimonials on the new website which will hopefully add credence to this. Many clubs have reported new faces returning again on the back of previous campaigns, which is brilliant to hear.

Coupled with increasing awareness in the national media, we hope that Non-League Day can only ever be a force for good. Put simply, the more people who visit our non-league clubs or are at least made aware of them, the better. In the interim, please direct any questions or suggestions to either Non-League Day founder James Doe ( james@nonleagueday.co.uk) or Campaign Manager Mike Bayly ( mike@nonleagueday.co.uk)
