Our FA Cup campaign starts away to Gloucester City

The Crusaders will travel to Evesham United's ground tomorrow the current Landlords of Gloucester City.

In this all National League South tie, both teams would have been perhaps hoping for an easier start to their FA Cup campaigns, although City will fancy themselves, having already beaten The Crusaders at Bulpit Lane in Boardman and Herring first game in charge. City won the tie 3-2 but were subject to a late rally from the Crusaders but held on to all three points.

Boardman has said that both Hopper and Partridge will face late fitness tests, but if they are fit, will be a welcome addition to an injury depleted squad currently. Gareth Thomas, although injured, is cup-tied so will not take part.

Since the defeat to Gloucester City on the 26th August, Management Due, Herring and Boardman have managed only one defeat in five losing out to Bath City on Monday night.

Boardman said "In all or games, I think we have been there or thereabouts. We have had to make late changes due to injuries, but we are nearing the return of some players and the squad will be back to full strength soon, maybe even Saturday."

“We all love the Cup, and it would be great to have a bit of a run in it,” he said, “and I think we’ve got a chance if we play the way we can.

“We know they are a tough side in our league, so if we’re not bang on it 100 per cent, it will be difficult.”

City Boss, Harris, has gone on record to say “I’ve been fortunate enough as a manager to have some really great moments in the FA Cup” Harris said. “The exploits at Cinderford stick out as some of the best memories but what we wouldn’t give to have a good cup run this year.

“Everyone goes into the Cup and they’re all in the same boat, they want to have a good run. If you get on a good run it’s some more very welcome additional income to the club, especially for Gloucester City.

“It’s been a while since we had a really decent run in the Cup and why can’t this year be ours?”

“Whilst it’s true that we’ve already beaten them this season, we were made to work very hard for it that day and we’ll have to do the same come Saturday.

“It all comes down to the desire of the players to take hold of the situation. We’re aware that they’re a tough opponent but I know that our players will give it the best shot they can.”

The Prize money on offer for the winner of this tie is £4500 and into the Third Round Qualifying draw on Monday.

We have a full coach for travelling supporters and are looking forward to some good support! #Crusaders #Wearehungerford
