Ian Herring & Jon Boardman step forward

Bobby Wilkinson has outgrown HTFC

It has been an eventful long weekend for Hungerford Town Football Club with a 48 hour lock down on any announcements following the shock resignation of manager Bobby Wilkinson at half time during the Welling game.

Losing such a highly regarded manager is one thing but was immediately followed by the resignation of the newly appointed club Chairman and Vice Chairman with the inevitable resignation of Bobby Wilkinson's full management team.

It is the end of a very successful 8 years and the Crusaders wish to thank Bobby Wilkinson and his team for their extraordinary endeavours and historical success. It is fair to state that Bobby is one of the most exciting managers on the National League circuit and has outgrown the humble Crusaders eco system. We wish him every success with his next venture as he will inevitably take his unique winning skills to higher levels.

As with all clubs who have 100's of years history, "the show must go on".

The committee voted unanimously tonight to bring in Ian Herring and Jon Boardman as joint caretaker managers but the next 2 games will define how damaged the Crusaders spirit may be. What is heartening is that Ron Tarry, club President personally attended the crucial meeting and shared annotates about past similar situations and he even bought the beers.

In summary, through adversity and even if we lose one or two players, the club is 100% financially secure and unless things change over the next 48 hours, the Crusaders players squad are no less of a quality outfit.

We do however need your local support at our next home game on Saturday to help lift the spirit of the Crusaders and move onto a new era. Our promise is that each and every one of the us Crusaders will give 100% and hopefully succeed in our quest for success.
